4.4 LATIN AMERICA

Traditionally, some of the business schools in Latin America have been less well known internationally than many of those in other regions, with lower levels of recruitment interest shown. Nevertheless, a consistent picture of the most preferred group has emerged in this research, year on year with a consistent number of recruiter
respondents in Latin America and stable evaluations. There has simply been some re-aligning of the top-10 business schools in Latin America preferred by recruiters in 2006.

Once again, a Mexican institution tops the list, but this time it is ITAM Instituto Technologico Autonomo de Mexico, continuing its consistent rise of seven places over the last two years. The former most preferred school, IPADE Instituto de Estudios Panamericano de Alta Direcction de Empresa slips slightly to 4th, just below the third Mexican school in the table EGADE - Tecnologico de Monterrey. IAE Instituto de Altos Estudios Empresariales Universidad Austral of Argentina moves up two places to take the second most preferred position. INCAE Business School of Costa Rica, with the highest percentage of international students (85%) performs will moves up three places to 5th and Venezuela's IESA Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administracion maintains two years progress upwards at 6th.

Universidad de Chile is the second Chilean school to join the top-10 at 8th. However, the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile has declined five places in two years to sit precariously at 10th. Perhaps because of the poor economic conditions in Brazil, its schools have been faring less well this year than others. They also have some of the lowest levels of international students worldwide. Fundacao Getulio Vargas Business School at 7th drops two and Universidade de Sao Paulo, at 9th drops by five places. Sao Paulo Business School loses its place in the top-10, this year.

Please refer to the table on Page 19 for the full list of the 10 schools in Latin America most favoured by recruiters.
