As part of an exciting phase of the State’s international development, a new NSW Office will be opening in Mumbai, India in 2009 and DSRD is actively seeking a high calibre
Senior Representative to be based there and lead and direct the office and its operations.
Reporting to DSRD’s Executive Director, International Markets and Trade located in
Sydney, the role will be instrumental in strengthening NSW’s international business
presence and developing market and trade opportunities. The ability to build and leverage
strategic relationships with key businesses and trade connections will be critical, as will
the ability to identify suitable inbound investment and other business opportunities for
NSW. This position will also assist in managing projects aimed at identifying opportunities
to promote economic development and growth for NSW. Prioritising industries and
markets for export ventures will be an imperative, and the appointed person will work
closely with universities and other educational institutions to promote NSW as an
educational, business and tourist destination.

The Sydney based New South Wales (NSW) Department of State and Regional
Development (DSRD) delivers programs and services that support the NSW Government’s
commitment to winning business for NSW, and developing the capacity and productivity
of the NSW economy. It attracts significant investment projects to NSW and other
business opportunities that have the potential to benefit the State’s economy and
promote Sydney and NSW internationally.
To qualify, you will need a degree in a relevant discipline with extensive expertise in local trade and investment and international business. In addition, you must be able to
demonstrate established connections with key stakeholders in both international trade
and government agencies.
You will need to have a good understanding of the NSW business environment. Working
knowledge of relevant Government policies, procedures and legislation is required or
must be developed. Ideal candidates will be self starters, have excellent communication
and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with management and government
officials at the highest levels
