Hence, an effort was made to study the perception levels of Indian management graduates and assess their communication effectiveness pertaining to oral and written skills. This research can help the management students to identify their lacking areas and try to follow the recommended ideas to improve their ability to speak and write effectively.
Students of today can develop competencies as future managers and face the extraordinary situations in the rapidly changing environments efficiently.

Objectives

The main objective of this research is to analyze the communication effectiveness of management graduates based on their perception about their ability to speak and write effectively. The study also aims to compare the responses of men and women for obtaining gender-based inferences.

Methodology

About eighty graduates in management education were chosen at random for the study and a self-assessment questionnaire was administered. Oral and written are the most commonly used forms in business and, therefore, communication effectiveness of the students' was based on oral and written skills. A set of thirty-two questions was made with five-point scale relating to speaking and writing skills to evaluate the effectiveness among the respondents. To analyze effective speaking, both verbal and non-verbal variables like use of language, clarity, pitch, tone, fluency, promptness, confidence, feedback skills, listening skills, eye contact, use of gestures, etc., were considered, and for effective writing variables like language, style, tone, coherence, clarity, and mode of expression were included.

The mean scores relating to speaking and writing were compared among the respondents to find out the effectiveness between the two variables. The scores of forty men and forty women against each skill were compared within the genders to assess the relationship between the skills and also for measuring the level of significant difference among the genders. Descriptive statistical tools like Pearson Correlation and Independent One Sample Two-Tailed "t" Test were adopted for analyzing the data.
