Indian Knowledge Leaders participate in 18th Annual Kellogg India Business Conference

The Kellogg School of Management, USA, hosted the 18th Annual Kellogg India Business Conference in Evanston IL, USA to commemorate the success of Indian achievers in the diverse fields of internet, enterprise software, venture capital, consumer packaged goods and not-for-profit. The conference titled Opportunities Take Flight talked about how the Indian businesses are adapting constantly to the evolving economic environment and coming up with innovative strategies to become more competent in both domestic and global market.

The conference commenced with the inaugural speech of Mr. Mohanbir Sawhney, Kelloggs much loved professor.

 

 

This was followed by Mr. Param Uberois speech where he addressed the audience about his early years in beverage industry and the overall landscape of business in India.

 

A panel discussion on financial services in India called Fuelling a Billion Aspirations, moderated by Navin Chopra included Kellogg alumni Rahul Khanna, the managing director of Canaan Partners, India, Jasjit Mangat, director, investments, Omidyar Network India Advisors, as well as K B Chandrasekar, the founder and chief executive of Asia Bridge Capital and Amitabh Chaudhry, the managing director and chief executive of HDFC Standard Life.

 

There was another panel discussion on entrepreneurship in India which was moderated by Rashmi Bansal, the best selling author of entrepreneurial stories.

 

Neetu Bhatia, co-founder and chief executive of KyaZoonga.com, was a part of this panel. She talked about the entrepreneurship scenario in India and shared her personal experiences and journey from being a senior Investment Banker on Wall Street to being a leading entrepreneur in India.. Neetu is credited as the pioneer of professional ticketing and e-merchandising in India.

 

She also laid emphasis on the need of being innovative and breaking free from the customary pattern of approaching the market. You just cant use a cut-and-paste approach without understanding the customer and how the market works, Neetu said.

 

 

Other speakers in this panel included Anupam Mittal, the founder and chief executive of People Group (the parent company of brands such as shaadi.com, makaan.com etc) and Bharat Goenka, co-founder and managing director of Tally Solutions.

 

 

As an act of encouraging and promoting the social entrepreneurship, the conference hosted Social Innovation Competition which was sponsored by the Kellogg Center for Research in Technology and Innovation with $15,000 as prize money.
