Italian Prime Minister to receive 2012 Responsible Leadership Award from ESMT

Mario Monti, Prime Minister of Italy is to receive the 2012 Responsible Leadership Award from the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin as part of their fifth ESMT Annual Forum next month.

The Prime Minister will receive his award in person at the ESMT campus.

It is the third time the school has presented the award, and past honourees include N. R. Narayana Murthy of Infosys Technologies, and Chairman and Managing Director of Sabanci Holding, Gler Sabanci.


ESMT President, Jrg Rocholl said, Mario Monti is an outstandingly gifted and dedicated individual who has taken on great responsibility in difficult times. It is a particularly great honour for us to acknowledge his achievements.


Before becoming Prime Minister, and Minister of Economy and Finance in November 2011, Mario Monti was President of Bocconi University in Milan, and was a member of the European Commission for almost ten years. He also served on the first ESMT academic board.

The Annual Forum is held in association with the International Leadership Association (ILA) and will run from June 13th to 15th. It provides a platform for leaders of business, academia and politics to debate issues on an international scale. This years conference Leading Across Generations focuses on future workplace challenges, and opportunities.


Key speakers include Michael Diekman on Allianz SE, Thomas Sattelberger of Deutsche Telekom AG, as well as Charles OReilly of Stanford Graduate School of Business, and ESMTs own Matthew Bothner.
