XAT 2011: Sectional and overall cut-off

Xavier Admission Test, one of the toughest and most prestigious management entrance tests in India, is scheduled on January 2, 2011. A paper- pencil test with three major sections—English Usage and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation and Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making ability, XAT is a ticket to XLRI, XIMB, S P Jain Mumbai, Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies, Harihar, Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship, Bangalore, Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi and many more.



XAT written test have multiple components and thus the aspirant need to maximize his/her performance in each of these components. XLRI accepts candidates from different academic backgrounds say, engineers, CA/CS, humanities background students, medical students etc. Thus, while preparing the short-listed candidates for the interview, in addition to XAT performance, XLRI factor in academic ability and the relevant work experience.

Besides performance in the personal interviews and group discussions, it also consider XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra curricular activities etc. while preparing the final list of short listed candidates.

In XAT 2010, for Human Resource Management Program at XLRI, around 650 applicants having more than 92.60 percentile in VA, 80.36 percentile in QA, 84.36 percentile in RA, and overall 95.03 percentile were short listed for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

However, for XLRI's Business Management Program around 550 applicants securing more than 90.13 percentile in VA, 91.31 percentile in QA, 90.01 percentile in RA, and overall 98.02 percentile were short listed for Personal Interview.

A candidate is allowed to apply for a maximum of three programs. Those who apply for multiple programs may be called for multiple interviews and group discussions. The selection criteria for different programs may differ depending on the nature of the program.
