Looks like the fading glory of MBA degree is India is redeeming. At least the fresh figures provided by Prometric, the CAT conducting agency, indicate this.
According to Prometric, as many as 2.15 lakh CAT 2012 vouchers had been sold till September 17, the last day of voucher sale for CAT 2012.
The figures hint towards the redeeming glory of CAT, which had declined over the years. Last year, 2.06 lakh vouchers were solda whooping 9000 less than this year.
The registration window for CAT 2012 will close today, September 19 at 11:59 pm. Candidates who have purchased the vouchers and had not registered for the exam yet must register today through the registration window on www.catiim.in .
However, the numbers are just indicatory for the total number of candidates who may actually appear for the test, as many candidates do not even use the voucher to register online and of the total who registers, some even do not even turn up at the test centre.
Last year, 2.05 lakh registered for the test against a voucher sale of 2.06 lakh. However, only 1.85 lakh turned out to appear for the test.
According to the press statement issued by Prometric India, the highest number of vouchers were sold the first day and close to 6,000 vouchers were sold the last day33% higher than last year.
CAT 2012 is scheduled from October 11 till November 6, 2012. Earlier CAT was conducted in a 20 day long testing window. This year it has been increased from 20 to 21 days.
