S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai, released its online application form for admission to its 2 year full time PGDM ( equivalent to MBA) program on September 5, 2012.
The institute accepts scores of Common Admissions Test (CAT), Xaviers Admission Test (XAT) and GMAT for short listing to its PGDM program. While CAT 2012 and XAT 2013 scores are required, from this year on, GMAT scores of 2010, 2011 or 2012 are accepted.
In keeping with its legacy of excellence, the admissions procedure focuses on consistency of academic and extra-curricular performance throughout the education and work-life of the student, resulting in an exceptional batch quality, sharing of ideas, and rich interactions among student and faculty.
Shortlisting of applicants for a rigorous interview process is done by score-based and profile-based methods of selection. While the score-based selection gives weightage to high cut-off scores in the said entrance exams, the profile based call, given to a few applicants is a unique feature of the selection process at SPJIMR. The profile based call gives weightage to the applicant's achievements including academic, extra-curricular and work experience along with the entrance exam scores.
However, a minimum qualifying score of 85 percentile in CAT or XAT, or 680 in GMAT is a must, below which an applicant with a profile based call is not eligible to appear for the interview.
This year, the institute has received AICTE approval for an additional 36 seats to admit Persons of Indian Origin, holding a PIO card as per the Scheme of Ministry of Home Affairs 2002 to the PGDM program. Additionally, foreign nationals, NRI and overseas citizens of India (OCI), can apply to the general pool of 240 seats offered by the institute.
