Job Description:

The Manager will lead an end-to-end project solution for a major client. As a Mortgage Operations Manager, this position plays a key role as part of the Indecomm Lending Solutions Group management team. This position provides support to a client by providing an end-to-end solution team responsible for providing the highest levels of performance through processing, underwriting and closing of first mortgages. Success in this position is demonstrated by building a cohesive team of mortgage personnel, effectively managing a pipeline of mortgage applications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and the timely underwriting and closing of mortgage loans in alignment with the client's policies and procedures. The Operations Manager shall be proficient in all aspects of mortgage lending practices including (but not limited to) origination, processing, underwriting, funding, and standard agency requirements.

Organizational Relationships
Reports to: Directors of Processing, Underwriting and Closing
Supervises: Pre-processors, Processors, Underwriters, Conditions Specialists, Closers and Quality staff

Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to, the following

  • Directs, leads and offers expertise to direct reports, ensures the processing, underwriting and closing teams are provided the appropriate tools to successfully execute their responsibilities, manages the achievement of established performance goals, and conducts performance appraisal reviews.
  • Provides day-to-day project oversight and workflow coordination for processing, underwriting and closing teams.
  • Collaborates and communicates with client (and internal Indecomm team) to establish loan performance expectations.
  • Builds strong client relationship; consults with client to identify needs and respond in a proactive manner.
  • Models and provides operational leadership to achieve high quality customer service.
  • Monitors quality assurance and timeliness of workflow by Performing staff audits to determine if inconsistencies exist;
    • Analyzing and monitoring team workflow;
    • Implementing policies/guidelines for uniformity and quality standards;
    • Ensuring adherence to regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Acquires knowledge of client's automated systems for loan set-up, credit approval, document preparation, and loan closing, in order to ensure the validity and accuracy of data input/output for loans.
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry practices and trends; identifies opportunities for improvements of established practices and customer satisfaction.
  • Works with the Directors of Processing, Underwriting and Closing to ensure that annual goals are realized while increasing productivity, profitability and staff accountability.
  • Recommend and implement ongoing training for continued professional development.
  • Performs related work as required.
Candidate Profile:
  • Previous Operations Management experience preferred in the mortgage lending industry with an emphasis on processing and closing. Previous experience managing multiple functions considered a plus. Must have a demonstrated track record in successfully managing processing, underwriting and closing teams with delivering the highest levels of service to the client/customer.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of direct reports.
  • Build an effective team structure and manage workflow process.
  • Interpret and apply external regulations and internal policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Analyze and evaluate the degree of risk associated with the residential lending process – in processing, underwriting and closing.
  • Keep abreast of changes in policies, programs, procedures, standards, and regulations applicable to the work unit.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, risk parameters, and guidelines of the organization are met.
  • Understand and apply local, state and federal regulations relating to loan operations activities.
