NITIE, Mumbai Successfully Concludes Final Placements
There were smiles all around in the NITIE campus as the final placement process for the batch of 2010 got wrapped up with everyone bagging their dream jobs. The process saw the participation of around 90 companies, offering a plethora of roles across various domains - namely Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Consulting and IT/Systems.
Amazon offered the highest domestic package of Rs. 19.5 lakh per annum. International placements were offered by companies like Olam International and Dubai Telecom. Olam International made the highest international placement offer at $150,000 per annum.
Many coveted companies like Procter & Gamble, Cadbury, GE, Essar, L'Oreal, Cummins etc. made pre-placement offers (PPOs), with 25 students accepting the direct route to their dream jobs.
Recruiters from the much-revered consulting sector included major players like PWC, Ernst and Young, Cognizant Business Consulting, Global e-Procure, Bristlecone, Capgemini and Triniti. Cognizant was a major recruiter in this sector, making 11 offers.
Propelled by strong fundamentals and a driving economy, the Banking and Financial Services (BFSI) sector made its presence felt in a big way with companies like Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, JPMC, Deutsche Bank, GE, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, SBI Caps, Kotak Mahindra etc. making offers to students. Many of the students embraced this sector, endorsing NITIE's standing in BFSI domain. The profiles offered were Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Bank Operations, Retail Banking etc.
Ever since its inception NITIE has displayed its exuberance in the FMCG sector and the partnership flourished to even greater heights this year. Some of the majors who participated in the placement process were Procter & Gamble, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Nestle, Cadbury, PepsiCo, ITC, Marico, Colgate, Palmolive, Britannia, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, L'Oreal, Godrej, Asian Paints etc. The profiles offered in the FMCG sector were those of Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain and IT/Systems. Proctor & Gamble was the major recruiter in this sector.
The IT/Systems sector was represented by companies like Amazon, Dell, Accenture, TCS, HP, Infosys, Wipro, KPIT Cummins, ITC Infotech, Syntel etc. to name a few.
Manufacturing and Process companies like Daimler, Larsen and Toubro, BHEL, HPCL, Ashok Leyland, JSW, WEP and Anand Group offered roles in Operations, Logistics and Marketing. Other majors, including Telecom companies Airtel, Idea Cellular, TTSL etc. and Logistics companies like Gati offered interesting profiles in Supply Chain and Marketing functions.
Reflecting on the placements, Prof. Ashok Pundir, Associate Dean (Placement) said: "The enthusiastic response to the final placements this time signals that the Indian economy is well and truly back on the growth path. We are glad that the corporate fraternity continues to repose confidence in our institute and students by offering varied profiles year after year."
