Dr Kalam Office becomes a recruiter at IIM Ahmedabad Agri Business summers program

The Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management kicked off its summer placement process for the first year students on November 14th. By November 15th afternoon, the entire process was completed.

 

As many as 23 companies participated in the selection process, which included regular recruiters like Rabobank, Monsanto, Marico, Bayer CropScience, Syngenta, Heinz, Britannia, Godrej Agrovet, and Tata Rallis. This year, the placements also attracted new recruiters like Netafim, Tata Amalgamated Plantations, Enercon India and Huvepharma SEA, showing the increasing visibility of the programme.

 

A variety of roles were offered across sectors such as FMCG, Agricultural Inputs, Banking, Consulting, Renewable Energy, Food & Agribusiness Advisory, and Plantations. Huge diversity was seen in the internship roles offered to students, with one student getting an offer from the Office of Dr. Kalam in a role related to rural development, while others getting roles in Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Banking, and Supply Chain Consulting. Other functional roles ranged from Strategy, Marketing, Commodity Trading, Sales and Distribution, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, and Research and Advisory.

 

"We were successful in hiring Summer Trainees in a well-managed process. This is just the beginning of this relationship and we look forward to visiting the campus again," said the representatives from Netafim. “The quality of the students that we‘ve recruited from campus is of very high standard and we are glad to have them onboard,” mentioned Marico, a regular recruiter at IIMA. Tata Amalgamated Plantations commented, “We came on campus with some very challenging projects and were delighted to find candidates with a great fit who exceeded our expectations both in terms of talent as well as preparation levels. The placement process was very efficient and we had a great time recruiting.”

 

Enercon India, a first-time recruiter, mentioned, “We had roles in Commodity Trading and found a great fit with the PGP-ABM students.”

 

Karan Kabra, Recruitment Secretary, PGP-ABM Placement Committee, commented, “With students of diverse academic backgrounds, our aim was to attain the best possible student-recruiter fit which was ensured this time by the huge breadth of roles offered.”

 

Prof. Saral Mukherjee, Placement Chairperson, IIMA, commented “This year, the PGP-ABM programme attracted a significantly higher number of recruiters as compared to last year. This shows a robust sectoral growth and a sustained interest of recruiters in the PGP-ABM programme.”
