Background

Q. Can you tell us something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications and work-experience?
A. Born and brought up in Mumbai, did my graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. After my graduation I worked with Infosys Technologies Ltd. for 19 months before joining NITIE.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. After I got placed in Infosys, my joining was delayed by 6 months, during this time I decided to give CAT a shot. Without much preparation, I managed to secure 98.xx, and a call from IIM I, and despite my best efforts I could not convert it. But this gave me the confidence to give CAT another shot. This coupled with the fact that IT work was giving the professional satisfaction that I desired, I worked for CAT.

Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career in management?
A. When I started preparing for CAT, I didn't have a career plan as such, infact I built a career plan about what I would want to do after my MBA.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. Besides the CAT, I wrote XAT, for XLRI (BM) and FMS. And in terms of colleges I applied to NITIE and MDI besides the IIMs.

Q. Your present B-school and programme. Also specify your Batch.
A. National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environment Management, Batch of 2009-11.
