2. On the occasion of the 11th convocation, the buildings of the university were being decorated.
3. Much was being done to eradicate corruption from the various departments but to no avail.
4. It was raining and farmers were ploughing their fields.
5. The villagers were soundly sleeping when the robbers attacked the village.
6. They were taking a big procession under the guidance of Lala Lajpatrai.
7. What was being done that time?

Pay Attention: The verbs with agreement in singular and plural are as follows: -

  • Singular Number - educates, studies (the first form with suffix 's' or 'es' of all verbs) - does, is, has, was.

  • Plural Number - educate, study (the base form of all verbs without any suffix) - are, were, have, do.
    I - educate, study, am, was, do, have.
    You - educate, study, are, were, have, do.

    Pay Attention: Such adverbs of time are used only in the Past Tense. Such adverbs are - last, yesterday, in 1947, etc, formerly, previously, ago, in the past, in the olden days, long ago, etc. For example: -

    1. I have had my breakfast. (Correct)
    2. I have had my breakfast at 8 AM. (Incorrect)
    3. I had my breakfast at 8 AM. (Correct)
