2. Questions related to Pre-MBA Preparation

Q. When did you start your preparation?
A. August 2005.

Q. How many months and how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. Initially, for 6 months I prepared for around 1.5 hours daily, on an average about 5 days a week, and after this daily for around 3 hours.

Q. Did you take up some coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. I believe that everything can not be learnt by self-study. Practice can be a part of self-study later on, but initially, we need to learn basic concepts from coaching institutes.

Q. Can you tell us which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance, books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. I liked the books prescribed by Career Launcher, and other books like Word Power Made Easy, and Shakuntla Devi`s Brain Teasers, etc.
For pure relaxation, I enjoyed reading books by Chetan Bhagat, Pramod Batra, Shiv Khera, etc.

Q. What was your experience with coaching?
A. Experience with the coaching institute was good as they provided a track for achieving the goals. I joined the Career Launcher, Roorkee Centre, which was a newly established center providing good facilities and education.

Q. What are the others books & tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. I gave online free tests available for GMAT students apart from the Mock Tests conducted by Career Launcher.

Q. What was your strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Strongest was Verbal & Logical Reasoning. Weakest was Quantitative Aptitude.

Q. Some tips which you used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. Regular practice.

Q. How much time did you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working full time?
A. I used to spend around 3 hours daily for the preparation apart from college and Career Launcher classes. I wasn't working.

Q. Which all Exams and B-schools you applied to?
A. Exams - CAT, SNAP, IIFT, MAT, etc. B-schools - BIMTECH, Noida; ISME, Bangalore; NIILM, Delhi; and GITAM, Vishakhapatnam.

Q. Your present B-school and course.
A. I am pursuing PGPM from International School of Management Excellence (ISME), Bangalore.

Q. What procedures your school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. Step 1: MAT or CAT
Step 2: Group Discussion
Step 3: Interview

Q. What is the range of score for students who are admitted?
A. MAT - Above 80%tile. CAT - Above 70%tile.

Q. What was your score?
A. My MAT score was 93.5%tile.
