1. General Questions

Background

Q. Can you tell us something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications and work experience?
A. I did my schooling from S.B.O.A. School & Junior College, Chennai, till my 10th and then moved on to S.B.O.A. Matriculation & Higher Secondary School, Chennai. Thereafter, I went on to do my Engineering in Information Technology from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. I was very keen in doing MBA from the time I joined my under-graduation and, hence, I used to read articles about MBA, career options for MBAs, and profiles of successful business people, and as time passed on, my interest in doing MBA grew, and during 3rd year of my Engineering, I decided to join T.I.M.E. institute for my CAT preparation. The main reason that motivated me to do an MBA is the growth and learning opportunity it provides to rise to the top of corporate ladder.

Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career in management?
A. I wanted to start my career in Management and I am also sure that my MBA degree will help me to achieve my career goals.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. JMET and CAT were the exams I appeared for. And the institutes which I applied to are BIM-Trichy, KJ Somaiya-Mumbai, TAPMI-Manipal and IFMR-Chennai.

Q. Your present B-school and Programme. Also specify your Batch.
A. I am doing MBA from Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Trichy. Our lush-green campus is located inside BHEL campus, and we have state-of-the-art classrooms that facilitate interactive learning. Both the classrooms and hostels are Wi-Fi-enabled. Apart from well-stocked air-conditioned library, we have access to databases such as - CMIE Prowess, EBSCO Elite, Indiastat.com, etc. We follow a trimester pattern and the first year is usually for basic general management courses, and in the second year, we choose specializations, usually two, one as major and other as minor. Most of the events and activities are student-managed and it gives us a sense of pride and responsibility. Then about my batch, well, it's a combination of good cultural and academic mix.
