  3. Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise
  4. Interview-related Questions
  5. After Joining MBA

4. Interview-related Questions

Q. How did you prepare for the interview?
A. I had prepared answers for a set of possible questions that can be asked from my profile, and had mock interviews with my coaching institute manager, Mr. Promod, which helped me to get some valuable feedback.

Q. How many interview calls did you get and from which institutes? How many and which ones of these could you actually convert to a Final Call?
A. I got calls from BIM, KJ Somaiya, TAPMI and IFMR. And since some dates were conflicting and there were other circumstantial factors, so I attended the interview of BIM and KJ Somaiya only. And got admitted in BIM.

Q. Date and location of Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or re-scheduled couple of times? Was the interview venue changed or scheduled as per your convenience?
A. My interview was on 16th March 2008 in Trichy. Yes, we were given the option to choose the place for interview. The interview date and place were as per our convenience.

Q. Can you tell us about the panel that interviewed you?
A. The panel had four members. They were very friendly. They were professors from marketing, operations and ethics area.

Q. How long was your interview?
A. It was for 20 minutes.

Q. What kind of questions were you asked? Were they specific to any particular area?
A. The questions were not limited to a specific area. Since my under-graduation was from Information Technology, some question were from that area. Also since I had Operations Research in my sixth semester of Engineering, they also asked me question from OR. And some general questions on the global economic conditions were also asked.

Q. What were the first question, the most interesting question, the most difficult question?
A. The first question was "Tell us about yourself?" I used this opportunity to tell my strengths and achievements. The most difficult question was the one about the concepts of operations research; it was a bit difficult to recall the concepts.

Q. While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel prepared?
A. Feedback from coaching centre manager, Mr. Promod, helped me to correct my mistakes and also to face the final interview panel with confidence.

Q. Write a brief about your Interview experience.
A. It was a cool experience, many questions were asked from the areas which I had already prepared. The panel members were very friendly. They didn't rush me, but listened carefully to what I said and also showed their interest throughout the interview, which made me confident and feel free to express my views easily.

Q. Was any feedback given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of session?
A. No, feedback was not given.

Q. How would you rate your performance in the Interview?
A. 8/10.

Q. Areas where you could have performed better in your interview?
A. For the question asked from operations research area, I found difficulty in recalling. I wish I could have brushed up the basic concepts of OR.

Q. Give some handy tips regarding interview that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.
A. Once again I must say that reading newspapers and magazines will help you know the latest news, from which questions are sure to be asked. Also, if possible, go for mock interviews and get feedback; it will help to improve your interview performance.

Contd.   5. After Joining MBA
