1. General Questions

Background

Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. Having done my schooling at Mumbai and Muscat, I did my graduation in Chemical Engineering from Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur. I then worked for a period of two years as a Process & Proposal Engineer at Thermax Ltd.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. Well, I worked for two years at Thermax Ltd, that is a core engineering company in the Process and Proposal Engineering department of the Water and Waste Solutions Division. The work profile entailed mainly designing of Water Treatment Plants. However, I wanted more involvement with the customers and more of a front-end activity. The work that I was doing would have become mundane and stagnant after a time. Doing an MBA would also further my career prospects.

Q. What was your first step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. Since I was working, I decided to join a coaching class that would give me the necessary material as well as the push required to study after a long day at office.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. I decided to aim for CAT (like everyone else), aiming for IIMs, and other colleges of repute such as MDI, SP Jain, SIBM, etc.
