1. General Questions

Background

Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. I was born and brought up in Kochin and did my schooling and B.Tech. (Computer Science) there. I worked for Cognizant Technology Solutions after my college for a period of 21 months. Then joined Kairali Granites (family business) for a period of 8 months. Currently, am doing my MBA from Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. The idea was there burning inside me as an ember all through my college days. But it grew during my tenure at Cognizant. It was during this period that I realized the insights that a manager requires to run a successful show. This really fanned the desire to get an MBA degree.

Q. What was your first step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. I quit my job. I did that to get what I call "cohesion of efforts". I knew that I would not do justice to any if I went after both the pigeons. This was a very risky proposition, but the rewards outweighed everything else.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. I had my focus on the IIMs and two of the IITs, namely SJMSOM, IIT Bombay and DMS, IIT Delhi.
