2. Questions related to Pre-MBA Preparation

Q. When did you start your preparation?
A. July 2nd, 2006. That was the day I reached back home after quitting Cognizant.

Q. How many months and how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. I prepared for 5.5 months with 6 hours per day.

Q. Did you take up some coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. I had taken up the TIME's Mock Cat Series and Classes. I also used the study material provided by various institutes for my preparation. I also interacted extensively with fellow students.

Q. Can you tell us which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance, books for self-development, and books for pure relaxation?
A. I had no books per se for coaching nor for self development. I would suggest "The DaVinci Code" as a great relaxation book though!

Q. What was your experience with coaching?
A. The coaching was really good and it gave me a platform for interaction with fellow aspirants that I felt was really awesome.

Q. What are the others books & tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. None, sorry.

Q. What was your strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Strongest area was English and the weakest was DI.

Q. Some tips which you used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. For RC, I found reading the Editorial Section of newspapers every day as if it were an actual exam. RC really proved helpful on two counts. Firstly, it almost doubled my reading speed, and secondly, it gave me loads of information that came in handy for the GD/PIs.

Q. How much time did you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working full time?
A. I threw around 6 hours a day. Thankfully, I was unemployed as I had quit my job before starting preparation.

Q. Which all Exams and B-schools you applied to?
A. CAT, JMET, XAT.

Q. Your present B-school and course.
A. Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. Master of Management Programme.

Q. What is the range of score for students who are admitted?
A. 68 to 78 marks in JMET, and Rank 1 to 349, out of 22000.

Q. What was your score? (This will be kept confidential, if you desire.)
A. Rank 188, Score of 72.5.
