1. General Questions

Background

Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications and work-experience?
A. I did my schooling from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Cochin, till Class 12th in 2003. Thereafter, I pursued Production Engineering at NIT, Trichy, and graduated in 2007. I had obtained campus placement at Cognizant Technology Solutions, and worked there as a Software Engineer till June 2008, before resigning to pursue my MBA at IMI Delhi.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. I had always wanted to do a post graduate degree. It was just about making up my mind between CAT and GRE. Four years of exposure to Production Engineering made me realize that I would be better off doing an MBA than pursue further into a field that evades my interest. I gave CAT 2006, converted a few colleges, but was adamant on getting into a good college. So worked for close to an year in Cognizant, simultaneously prepared well for CAT 2007, and here I am.

Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career in management?
A. I am confident that an MBA degree, from a good college, will certainly boost the pace of one's career growth. I didn't have a clear-cut career plan, and I don't think I still do, but on broad perspective, I am sure I'll relish a career in management. One can't be too choosey, can he?

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. Right from the time when I gave CAT for the first time, I had made up my mind that if I do MBA, I'll do full justice to it by doing it only from a top-tier college. Also, I didn't want to do a specialized MBA program like Rural or Foreign Trade. So I applied for the top colleges offering PGDM. I remember buying forms for S. P. Jain, Mumbai.

Q. Your present B-school and programme. Also specify your Batch.
A. PGDM (Batch 2008-10), from International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi.
