The prominent recruiters at IIML this year were The Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Co., Lehman Brothers, Monitor Consulting, Sapient, i2 Technologies, Accenture (previously Andersen Consulting), Arthur Andersen, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, xChange21, along with the big names in Marketing, Banking and IT. A unique feature of the Placements this time was the number of HEPP (Higher Entry Placement Programme for students with more than 20 months of work experience) offers, wherein the recruits join at a level higher than the entry level. This year there were a lot of companies that came down to recruit for the first time, some of them being The Boston Consulting Group, Lehman Brothers, Monitor Consulting, i2 Technologies, Sapient, Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, xChange21, Bangalore Labs, Tata Strategic Management Group, Seranova and Nestle.

This time, 26% of the class was placed as consultants in the top Consulting Majors ranging from the mainstream Consulting groups (like Boston Consulting Group) to the IT Consulting firms, like i2 Technologies and xchange21. The offers were in the areas of E-Business Strategy, Investment Banking, Core Finance, Marketing, Brands, Human Resources and Systems. The year saw students increasingly focused about their career, which was aptly supplemented by the choice available to them in terms of the wide spectrum of job functions available.

IIM-Lucknow once again came out as the preferred hunting ground for IT companies. This was reflected in the number of IT placements and the number of foreign offers made this season. The companies were very impressed by the quality of the students, and the professional manner in which the placement process was being conducted. The first-time recruiters were especially impressed by the campus and its students.
