The B-School placement season saw some of the best names from the corporate world descend upon the scenic campus of NITIE, as the Batch of 2003 geared up for its final placement. A large number of companies had to return disappointed as all the 87 students were placed in very short time.

The Batch of 2003, with almost 70% of its students having prior industry experience, managed to bag 27 lateral placements this year. Based on the performance in their summer internships the students received a total of 11 pre-placement offers.

Placements 2003 saw a mix of Consulting, Information Technology and FMCG companies woo the students at the institute. Out of the 78 companies that registered for placements, only 47 could manage to get slots and recruit students. The regular recruiters like Triniti Corporation, continued their special relationship with NITIE, offering the highest Indian salary. Incidentally, Triniti was also the largest recruiter this year and selected as many as 10 students. The batch of 2003 established their presence on foreign shores in the form of 7 students accepting international offers in Systems and Consulting.

Some of the big names from the happening IT sector included Computer Sciences Corporation, Oracle, SAP Labs, HCL Technologies, Wipro Technologies, Bluestar InfoTech, Digital Globalsoft and Tata Consultancy Services.

Regular FMCG recruiters like Nestle, Marico, Asian Paints, J&J, and L'Oreal strengthened their ties with NITIE by picking up students for their Marketing, Systems and General management functions.

The GE group came calling with through its group companies GE-SBI, GECISS, GE Analytics and the prestigious GE-IMLP and was one of the preferred recruiters.

Says Prof. Ashok Pundir - Placements co-ordinator, "This year we experienced a substantial rise in placements in Marketing and in Systems jobs for ERP implementation. We were the preferred campus for Intel, who ventured our to recruit Indian MBAs for the first time this year."

Placements 2003 at NITIE saw a exuberant senior batch move into the corporate world and an expectant and eager first year batch waiting in the wings to grab the best jobs next year. Says a first year student, Mrinmoy Chakroborty with prior experience at Wipro Technologies-USA as a Team leader, "NITIE equips me with the right blend of technological skills and business acumen, a cross-functional approach lacking in most management courses. The solid foundation will help me excel not only in my summer internship at Frost & Sullivan but also serve as a differentiator in my final placements."

NITIE has yet again proved its credentials as a leading B-School by successfully achieving 100% placements in a year of economic uncertainty and doubt.
