Placement 2004

 IIM Ahmedabad

Preliminary Report
Final Placements at IIM Ahmedabad Ending Today

The final placements at IIM Ahmedabad scheduled to be held from 10th of March are ending today, on 16th of March. And the reports so far have been as amazing as one can expect from one of the top-notch B-schools of the country.

A new placement record has been reached as per highest salary offered, this year the company offering being Morgan Stanley. Last year the highest salary was offered by Capital One.

The exact details of the institute’s placement offers will be declared later, but the initial reports suggest that there have been 45-50 foreign job postings this year, as compared to 40 last year. And with the economy picking up, Indian companies have also hired a lot of students this year.

Lehman Brothers is again the largest recruiter this year with 12 students, the number being 11 students last year. Goldman Sachs has signed up 4 students this year - 4 last year too. McKinsey has signed up five students - 4 last year. HSBC has hired 4 students this year, Deutsche Bank has hired 2. Capital One, the highest paying company last year, has signed up 2 students this time while it had hired 3 last year.

Hindustan Lever has picked up 4 students this time, while Procter & Gamble has hired 11. Pharmaceutical companies, including Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Torrent Pharmaceuticals and Nicholas Piramal, also turned out in large numbers this year. Citibank has offered postings in rare locations like Bahrain and Dubai for hefty pay packets.

There were a number of new overseas companies on IIM A campus this year. Transindus Inc, a travel company from the UK, and Temasek of Singapore have hired one student each. This time there has been a substantial increase in the number of companies coming for recruitment. Also, more and more students this year considered offers from FMCG companies.

More detailed placement details from IIM A would be up shortly.
