MDI Shining - Gone in Six Hours

Final Placements 2004 at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon said it all. All 123 students were placed within 6 hours!

Over 100 top companies evinced interest in recruiting from MDI this year, out of which 79 companies were slotted for the process. The day that began at seven in the morning ended a short while after lunch with 46 companies lapping up all the 123 students. By the time process was declared over, MDI had clocked a new record of placing its entire batch in 6 hours.

The salaries offered this year were a reflection of the feel good factor in Indian economy.

The recruiters this year were spread across all functional areas and offered profiles that matched the expectations of students. With the major recruitment taking place in IT/ITES sector, almost 37% students decided to pursue careers in this industry. Profiles offered in this industry ranged from business consulting, software solutions, presales & branding to new age selling. Top companies in IT/ITES sector that visited the campus were IBM, Oracle, TCS, Wipro Technologies and Infosys.

Companies offered finance jobs with profiles ranging from Investment Banking, Treasury, Retail & Corporate Banking to Equity Research. Almost 22% students lapped up jobs in the most coveted industry players including JP Morgan Chase & Co., UTI AMC, SBI Caps, IDBI Caps and GE Caps. Companies like Nestle and BMC recruited students for the profile of Corporate Finance.

FMCG & Consumer durables accounted for 16% of students taking up jobs in this field. Almost 12% students chose careers in Manufacturing industries. MDI saw industry leaders like Reckitt Benckiser, Nestle, Bharat Shell, Dabur, Maruti, Philips, ICI Paints, BMC, Bharti Televentures and Agrotech foods offering excellent profiles and leaving the wallet a little heavier than before ! All major Pharmaceutical companies were conspicuous in its presence, with all major players coming down to recruit. Major companies in this sector included GlaxoSmithKline, Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Becton Dickinson.

The rest of the students took up high profile Media and Consulting jobs. With Hewitt Associates and Times group as the major recruiters in this sector, students got jobs of their choice. HR jobs were offered for profiles ranging from those at the functional domain to corporate level and to high end consulting. Almost all students with prior work experience got to choose the profile of their choice through lateral placements.
