NITIE Mumbai: First off the Blocks at Placements 2004
January 6th, 2004

Campus recruitments this year at NITIE reached dizzying heights even as it reiterated popular perception that the economy was on a definite upswing. The PGDIM Class of 2004 was placed in a short spell on January 6th, 2004.

Placements 2004 dawned on NITIE at 7:00 AM and a total of 93 offers were made by close to 34 companies before the process had to be stopped late evening with all 84 management students finding the jobs of their dreams. An awesome achievement indeed considering the fact that close to 85 firms had registered for pre-placement talks.

Major recruiters included the likes of Accenture, P&G, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, IBM, Citibank, Wipro, Digital, i2 Technologies, Infosys Technologies, SAP and the first-time recruiter Cypress Semiconductor Corp who picked up students in substantial numbers. The offers were made in industries as diverse as Banking and Consulting to Pharmaceuticals and IT Services. FMCG needless to say led the pack of recruiters by holding sway on Day Zero morning. These included majors like P&G, Coca Cola India, Colgate Palmolive, Asian Paints, Reckitt Benckiser, Gillette, Murugappa, Godrej & Dabur.

Almost all students with considerable pre-MBA work-experience were duly rewarded with lucrative lateral offers. First time visitors to the campus included reputed firms like TSMG, IBM, Accenture, Cognizant, Cypress Semiconductor Corp and the venerable DuPont.

Says NITIE's Director Dr.Tapan Bagchi, "This unstinted support we receive from corporate houses year after year will encourage us to constantly upgrade and increase the academic rigour & industry interface making us globally competitive." Adds Associate Dean-Placement, Prof. Ashok Pundir, "The sentiments of a Resurgent market saw Consultancies, FMCGs and IT companies participating actively in the Campus Recruitment Program 2004."

As for the students, their joy was unbound as the hard work and perseverance they had put in over the last two years yielded much deserved recognition.

Note: Along with the Management course, the other courses (ISEM, & the Industrial Engineering) have also been placed in their respective functional areas. The above details are for the Management course, PGDIM.
