Placement 2004

 XLRI Jamshedpur
Press Release
XLRI Jamshedpur Placed in Day Zero

Jamshedpur, February 17, 2004: 124 students, 67 recruiters, 9 hours, 100% placements - These numbers sum up the Campus Recruitment Process (CRP) at XLRI, Jamshedpur this year. The batch of 2004 has had record-breaking placements with the entire batch bagging great offers in a matter of few hours. The economy may be doing well, the sensex may be at an all time high and the much touted "feel good factor" may be at play, even so, the fabulous results at XLRI have far exceeded all expectations.

Getting back to more statistics, the highest salary offered this year is by Coke. A total of 162 offers were made which means that the candidates had multiple offers to choose from. 20 odd companies had to leave disappointed since the talent pool was exhausted much before the expected time.

The top recruiter is Wipro, which recruited 10 candidates, followed by Accenture, which picked up 8. The IT/ITES sector, comprising Cognizant Technology Solutions, IBM, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, TCS and vCustomer among others, was the top recruiter taking 47 students. Consulting firms, which included PwC, E&Y, Ma Foi, Hewitt Associates made over 20 offers. Banks and financial institutions like JP Morgan Chase, Standard Chartered, Citibank, AIG, ICICI, ABN AMRO, SBI, SBI Caps, UTI Bank, ICICI PruLife picked up 18 candidates. FMCG majors - HLL, ITC, Britannia, Colgate Palmolive, Reckitt Benckiser, GSK, Coke, Pepsi - picked up 32 students. Major recruiters from the Core sector like Murugappa, TAS, Aditya Birla Group saw 13 offers being accepted. The Class of 2004 at XLRI saw 20-odd PPOs and more than 30 Lateral Offers being made.

Technology played a major role in the placements this year with companies like Johnson & Johnson, Citibank, Advantage Global Services, TSMG and PwC making use of the Integrated Online Placement System for various stages of their recruitment process.
