Placement 2004

Press Release
XLRI Campus Placement Process Goes Online

Jamshedpur, January 20, 2004: XLRI Jamshedpur is taking its annual campus placement process online. A pioneer in using technology for process improvement, XLRI was the first to take student applications online in 2001 and the first to have an online alumni management system in 2002. Now the institute is replacing the usual paper-based placement process with the Online Campus Placement System from Blueshift India Pvt. Ltd. The XLRI placement committee, the students, and recruiting companies are already using the Online Campus Placement System from November 2003. The placement season continues until March this year.

The Online Placement System will enable the placement committee to monitor the placement process, and communicate easily with students and companies. Students will be able to apply to companies online, and view their status in the recruitment process. The use of the online system will prevent wasteful exercises like the repetitive filling up of application forms by students. Information about participating companies will be available online to students, along with links to the websites of the companies.

Companies will be able to search and view student profiles, job applications, and schedule placement activity, prior to their campus visit. Campus visits by companies is an important part of the recruitment process. The Online Campus Placement System has information pertaining to travel and stay at the campus, the placement schedule and facilities and amenities available to recruiting companies.

"We are very happy that XLRI has selected our Online Campus Placement System after a very thorough evaluation. This reconfirms their belief in our web solution for Student Relationship Management. We re-affirm our commitment to XLRI and the Indian business school community to provide online solutions to process improvement," says Sankaran P. Raghunathan, Chairman, Blueshift India Private Limited.

XLRI expects the Online Campus Placement System to provide better process coordination, to speed up communication, facilitate recording and reporting of placement data, and to prevent time consuming paper-based activities. Aneesh Banerjee, Secretary, Placement Committee says, "This system would help specific departments of companies to see the résumés of students simultaneously, choose students from résumés efficiently and communicate with students far more effectively. XLRI has peeped into the future to realize that the future of recruitment lies in efficiency of the process and IT would defiantly enable us to do the same. The online placement system that we have developed would bloom in a couple of years as we would encourage more and more companies to use it." XLRI is sure that the Placement System will enhance the experience of companies who come to the XLRI campus to recruit.

"Generation of analytical reports on placement patterns will facilitate better planning and execution of the placement exercise," says Fr. P. D. Thomas, Director, XLRI.

About XLRI

In the recent B-School rankings, XLRI was consistently ranked among the top five management schools in India. Major Indian companies visit the XLRI campus during placement season. XLRI's progressive policies and the adoption of online systems have enabled it to achieve efficiencies in its processes.
