January 05, 2005

Come January and B-school campuses across the country are abuzz with placement activities. Maintaining its impressive track record, SJMSOM, IIT Bombay, placed its entire batch in no time.

74 top-notch companies participated in the placement process. The batch of 52 students got 85 job offers (approximately 1.64 offers per student). Nearly 10% of the batch got foreign offers. Many companies made pre-placement offers even before the D-day, to students who had completed their summer projects with them.

The placements this year saw SJMSOM maintain its enduring relationship with corporate bigwigs like Godrej, e-Clerx, Cadbury, Marico, Citibank, Accenture, Infosys Technologies Ltd, Wipro, Bristlecone, Anand Group and Mahindra British Telecom. The School also began a new innings with top profile companies like IBM, TATA Strategic Management Group, JP Morgan Chase, SBI Caps and E&Y.

The job profiles offered were evenly distributed across various verticals and functional areas. Consulting profiles were offered by companies such as TATA Strategic Management Group, Accenture, Bristlecone, Avalon, Infosys Technologies Ltd., E&Y etc. The IT and ITES sectors were accounted for by big names like IBM, Oracle, Wipro, iFlex, HCL, Patni Computers, e-Clerx, Evalueserve and Symphony services India. FMCG sector saw companies like Marico, Godrej, Cadbury, etc., vying for their share of the talent on campus. Banking and Finance majors such as Citibank, GECIS, JP Morgan Chase, SBI Caps and SBI Bank were impressed with the growing finance prowess in the campus. Automotive majors such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Anand Group also offered excellent profiles. The high potential field of Telecom saw companies like Bharti Telecom, Idea Cellular, MBT, MAQ Software in search of technology managers.
