IIMA Lateral Placements Start With a Bang

In glimpse of what is going to happen in March when Placement season will be in full swing, Genpact has made an offer of Rs. 16 lakhs in lateral placement to Sameer Nigam of IIM Ahmedabad. Sameer has around six years of prior work experience before joining IIMA.

This will probably set the pace at which placements will happen across top-six IIMs, where placement season is expected to start in February-end, and will finish by March end. Buoyed by booming economy and a record high Sensex, this year placements are expected to surpass all records in salary, postings and job profile. Last time such a boom was observed in Year 2000, when bitten by dotcom bug, there were fewer students and more job offers and companies were literally chasing students.

Lateral placements process at IIMs happen before regular placements and are open only to those students who have minimum of 18 months prior work experience.
