Placement 2006

 MICA, Ahmedabad

MICA Placements Go International With Six Offers

The final placement activity at MICA for the eleventh batch of the flagship Post Graduate Programme in Communications Management (PGPCM) graduating in 2006 was a resounding success. An unprecedented quality and diversity in terms of both job profiles and pay packets was observed this year.

A total of 50-plus companies came to the campus with nearly 105 offers for a batch of 60 students. On Day Zero itself, 100 per cent placement was achieved, with most students receiving multiple job offers.

This year MICA received offers for six international placements from the Middle East and South East Asia with an average international salary of 35,000 USD p.a.

While traditional recruiters such as Leo Burnett, TNS, Mudra and Starcom made their offers, students also received offers from other diverse sectors such as automobiles, Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO), Insurance, IT and Telecom, Data Analytics, Apparel, Retail and Pharmaceuticals. Some of the renowned names who recruited include Ernst & Young, Procter & Gamble, Hewlett Packard, Super Max, Fractal, Prudential, Maruti, Tata, Titan, Citi Financial, Hutch and Hindustan Times. In particular, the advertising companies showed a refreshing improvement in job profiles and pay packets, recognizing the distinct creative streak of MICAns.

The average domestic salary offered for the batch of 2006 was Rs.6.47 lakhs p.a., a jump of nearly 60 per cent.

In addition to the final year placements, the summer placements were also bang on target, showing a substantial improvement in the acceptance of MICAns within industry. The average salary offered as stipend for Summer Placements 2006 touched Rs. 9,500 - a substantial increase over the last year.

Says Nikhil Raval, Manager, Placements, "The placements for both Final and Summer internship have been very good indeed. Many prestigious first-time recruiters such as E & Y, Colgate, KPIT, Prudential, Citi Financial, Wockhardt, Cavin Kare, Technopak and Indian Express also participated."

All in all, Placements 2006 has proved yet again that MICA is unmatched in terms of catering to the requirements of innovative marketing and marketing communications professionals in India and abroad.

Concluded.
