Genpact Emerges as Highest Paymaster so far at Placements 2006

With placements 2006 going on in top MBA institutes in India, some trends are slowly emerging, though its too early to call them significant. Still, one such significant shift is seen in the highest paymaster. And contrary to popular perception, this time it is not Consulting or Investment Banking firms, which have doled out the highest offers but Genpact, a leading third party BPO that has earlier made a lateral offer at IIM Ahmedabad of Rs. 16 Lakhs, and has repeated the performance by making an offer of Rs. 15.5 Lakhs at SPJIMR, Mumbai.

Probably, this indicates the growing importance of BPO Sector and its huge talent requirement. It is expected that in Placements 2006, BPO (or KPO) Sector will be the biggest demand driver as compared to traditional recruiters, i.e., IT, Banking, FMCG, etc.
