Xuberance 2006: History Repeats Itself
Day 1 Placements at XIM, Bhubaneswar

It is often said, "History repeats itself". However, rarely does one get to see a practical example of the same. The students of XIMB got the rare opportunity... indeed, the opportunity of a lifetime... to witness history repeating itself. Just one year ago, on the 8th of January, 2005, the nation watched as the students of the batch of 2005 at XIMB made themselves and their institute proud by achieving 100 percent placements within a span of just a few hours.

So unbelievable was the experience that few believed that it could ever be replicated. But they were wrong. The batch of 2006 went a few notches above their predecessors by achieving 100% placements on Day 1 itself, and was part of the record-breaking experience that was Xuberance 2006. The amazing performance of the lateral candidates in Xuberance 2006 was matched at every stage by the freshers, who were no less breathtaking in their show.

While the exact numbers are yet to be arrived at, the preliminary calculations yield the following results: -

A total of 202 offers were made for 121 candidates, yielding an average of 1.67 offers per candidate. The highest domestic salary of 9 lacs per annum was offered by ATOS Origin. The average domestic salary this time is expected to be around 6.95 lacs per annum *, and the exact figures will be available shortly. On the international scene, OLAM International made the highest offers of $85000 per annum. The companies, which made their presence felt on campus for the first time were ATOS Origin, Mindtree Consulting, OLAM International, Ernst & Young, IBM, and Cargill Foods among many others.

The first year students of XIMB have been matching their seniors step-by-step, what with the summer placement process at XIMB going on as smoothly as ever. With well-known companies like Walt Disney, United Bank of Switzerland, and PwC gracing the campus, the sun surely seems to be shining on Xavier Square, Bhubaneswar.

While it may appear now that such a performance will be difficult to replicate, if we go by past record, placements at XIMB are likely to get better and better as the years go by. Only time will tell.
