Almost 20% Students Bag Pre-Placement Offers at VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur

Industry bigwigs have continually shown faith in the managerial talent nurtured at the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur. The placement statistics for the batch of 2005-07 from VGSOM display a reaffirmation of this faith.

Notwithstanding an increase in batch-size from 85 to 120 students, the average salary vaulted by 20% touching 8.78 lakhs per annum. Although as many as 60 companies had confirmed their participation in the final placements process, the entire batch was placed with 34 organizations on Day One itself.

Top-notch names spanning all domains and sectors made their presence felt on campus. Regular recruiters like IBM, ITC, Citibank, Wipro, Voltas, Covansys, HCL Technologies, HSBC Analytics, Infosys, Infosys BPO, Maruti, Tata Motors, and Ashok Leyland continued to express their trust in the graduates of VGSOM. Leading companies like Cognizant Technology Solutions, Patni Computer Systems, International Tractors Limited, Cholamandalam DBS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Vedanta Group and Telelogic joined the list of distinguished recruiters this year. The consulting sector was represented by the best names in the business such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Accenture, Ernst and Young, Headstrong, Mindtree, and A. F. Ferguson.

Exciting profiles were offered across domains by several organizations, such as equity research (Irevna), treasury & investment banking (SBI and SBI Caps), Global Leadership Program (Tech Mahindra). PwC offered profiles in its prestigious GRID division. Some of the most coveted profiles in sales, marketing / merchandising and branding were offered by Aricent, ITC (International Tobacco Division), Hutch and RPG Retail. The international real-estate colossus Jones Lang LaSalle gave students an excellent opportunity to join the booming real-estate consultancy domain.

The highest offer on campus was made to three students. Additionally, almost 20% of the students bagged pre-placement offers (PPOs) at the end of their 6-month internship.

Concluded.
