Niche Domestic Offers, Preferred Profiles & High Compensation Mark Placements at MDI

The year 2007 at MDI proved to be a year of exhilaration and celebration as students were flooded with offers of recruitment from their dream companies in preferred profiles. All of the 160 students were placed within hours on Day Zero, reiterating that the talent at MDI is amongst the most sought-after in the nation.

The list of recruiters keeps burgeoning every year, adding on new firms which are drawn by the MDI brand. The list includes well-reputed and respected companies representing almost all the sectors of the Indian economy: banking, consulting, financial services, insurance and investment banking, FMCG, media, manufacturing, IT, pharmaceuticals, retail and telecom. Major recruiters for HR profiles were Ernst & Young, Mercer, Grow Talent, Nestle, Bharti, Tata Sons, ICICI, UTI, Essar, Pepsi, Britannia, Godreg and RPG. The PGPM recruiters included Honeywell, Patni, Yes Bank, Baxter, Astro Malaysia, Tridemt, BNP, Deloitte, GlaxoSmithKline, Lehman Brothers', ITC, Motorola, Oracle, Titan and Standard Chartered. Job profiles offered were Finance and Consulting, IT, Sales and Marketing, General Management and Operations. Specifically, recruiters like JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and ICICI offered finance profiles, ITC, Bharti, GSK and Johnson and Johnson offered Marketing, CTS, IBM and SAP offered IT and Tech Mahindra offered Operations.

The numbers speak for themselves - 120 companies evinced interest in recruiting from the 128 students who enrolled for the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and 32 students enrolled in the Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management (PGP-HR). Of these, 28 were invited for lateral placement process, and 75 for the finals. 58 companies finally recruited students, 23 during laterals and 35 during the finals. Out of the 20 recruiters for PGHR, 6 were first-time recruiters, and out of 49 recruiters in PGPM, 23 were first-time recruiters, the number of offers that the students received in an astronomical 111 for the 55 who sat for laterals and 104 for the 95 who waited for the finals. Besides this, 12 students, 9 from PGPM and 3 from PGHR were given pre-placement offers after they proved themselves during their summer internships. In consolidated terms, this means that the 160 students received 215 offers in all. The number of offers per person works out to be 1.34, up from last year's 1.09.
