Diversity in Profiles & Visiting Companies Sums-Up Final Placements at DoMS, IIT Roorkee

Diversity is one word that would aptly sum-up the Placements 2008 story at Department of Management Studies at IIT Roorkee.

The placements this year saw participation of companies from a wide spectrum of
industries ranging from the traditional Banking, IT and Consulting to fast-growing industries like Infrastructure, Insurance and Health-care. An indicative list of the companies participating for the first time include Aranca, Avalon Consulting, DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd., Evalueserve, Gallup India, Grail Research, Uttaranchal Infrastructure Development Company (UDeC).

The offers to the students started even before the Placement Week with Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) to students from companies like SBI Capital Markets, Aranca, Apollo Health & Lifestyle, Genpact to name a few, offering profiles such as Project Advisory, Business Analyst and Business Development.

Some of the highlights of the Placements 2008 have been shown as below: -

Highest Salary: 10.5 LPA
Average Salary: 7.4 LPA

Consulting companies participating in the placement process included Avalon Consulting, Bristle Cone India and Gallup India. Marketing profiles were offered by IMRB and Apollo Health & Lifestyle Ltd. IBM India, which was the top recruiter last year, offered consulting roles in the area of Strategy and Change while companies like Infosys and Newgen Software Technologies Limited were some of the other companies in the IT space. Banking & Insurance industries were represented by Kotak Mahindra Bank and insurance industry leaders, ICICI Prudential and ICICI Lombard. The placement process witnessed participation from top companies in the high-end Analytics space, viz., Market Rx, a Cognizant Company, Evalueserve, Grail Research, Aranca, etc.

Consulting roles were offered in areas like Strategy and Supply Chain Management, SAP and CRM. The banking and insurance companies offered exciting profiles like Product Management, Branch Banking, Project Advisory, Risk Management, etc. Analytics profiles offered were in the areas of Financial Modeling, Sales & Marketing Solutions, Energy & Power, etc. DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd., which is a diverse and fast-growing Indian MNC, offered sought-after profiles like Brand Management, Corporate Finance, Supply Chain Management, etc. UDeC, which is in the infrastructure space, is another company which offered the Corporate Finance profile.
