80 to 90 in CAT 2011: The Opportunities!

Jan 11,2012

So the CAT 2011 Result is finally out of the bag! In the third online avatar of CAT, with the pattern of 2 sections, there weren’t many surprises. However, the same cannot be said about the results.

For some, the CAT crossed the path in the right direction. While for others, it might be a welcome or unwelcome surprise. For those young men/women who are much sought after by various coaching institutes due to their 98+ score in CAT and a handful of Ivy League calls in hand, the picture seems to be clear. However for others who scored between 80 to 90 %le, it might be difficult to take a decision as myriad alternatives are available with their own advantages and trade-offs. They might consider a second tier B school or even opt to wait till next year.

Those who haven’t taken CAT whole heartedly & feel that they didn’t prepare enough to their potential should definitely consider appearing for CAT again. In my opinion, those who dream to pursue MBA enroute CAT should give the best shot at CAT at least once, with serious preparations. Believe me; whatever you think about your capabilities, there is always a chance that you are underestimating it. So give yourself a chance atleast once!

Having said that, if you are among those who had ‘tasted’ and ‘tested’ CAT more than once or twice, and are unwilling to take chances next year and avoid postponing MBA by a year, you can still make the best out of your score. With the number of colleges under CAT significantly increasing this year, there is fair chance that some of the good B schools may see a lowered cut-off for admissions.
