Ayush Garg, NMP student at MDI, Gurgaon shares his GMAT preparation experience and tips for other aspirants.

Q.

When did you start your preparation?
I started the GMAT preparation in June, 2011 with a GMATPrep diagnostic test.

Q. How many hours daily did you devote for preparation of entrance exams?
I studied for GMAT for about 2 months and appeared for the actual exam on August 16, 2011. I could spend on average two hours daily after work for studies.

Q. Did you take up some coaching or you believed in self-study?
I believe GMAT is an aptitude test which requires right temperament and stamina other than knowledge of concepts tested and so I relied on self study and tested my level of preparedness through regular diagnostic tests.

Q. Can you tell us which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance, books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
For GMAT, the GMAT Official Guides and Manhattan Sentence Correction guides are must. Other then these I also used Manhattan CR guide and free diagnostic tests from GMAC, Kaplan, Manhattan and few others.

Q. Which all Entrance Exams & B-schools you applied to?
I appeared for only GMAT and applied to ISB, XLRI and MDI.

Q. What procedures your school has for admission to its MBA program?
GMAT/CAT followed by an interview.

Q. What was your score?
GMAT score: 720/800

Q. Give some handy tips regarding the MBA written tests that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.
Focus of concepts and build stamina by working through loads of practise test.
