IITs MBA Admission Process

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) s offer a two year full-time MBA programme, and the admission process has begun with the applications invited for the same. IITs which have traditionally used JMET as the entrance exam have discarded it for CAT, other criteria remaining the same such as GMAT scores for NRIs, academic record and work experience considerations etc.
SJMSOM, IIT Bombay – Graduate engineers & Post graduates in sciences are eligible for admission and the process is three tiered with the first being CAT and then the GD and Personal Interview. Last date for applying online is 30th January and that for receiving application and documents at SJMSOM is 31st January 2012 for domestic students. For other details students can go here:

DMS, IIT Delhi – Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a Master’s degree in sciences is the basic eligibility criteria along with a minimum percentage in the above mentioned degree programmes. Last date for receipt of application form is 27th January 2012. GD and Personal Interview are mentioned as the next stage of admission process. More details regarding admissions can be had at:

VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur - Apart from eligibility criteria of first class in Bachelor’s degree (Engineering/technology) or in Master’s degree in Science/Economics/Commerce with mathematics/statistics at bachelor’s level , the admissions brochure also mentions that post qualification work experience in Industrial organizations will be given due consideration. January 28th 2012 is mentioned as the last date for receiving the application form. Details at:

DoMS, IIT Madras – The eligibility criteria is stated in the website as First class in BE/B tech or in Master’s degree in any discipline. The final selection is reported as dependent upon CAT score, Academic record, Letters of reference and work experience if any. Last date for receiving of applications at DoMS is mentioned in the website as 27th January 2012.

Department of IME, IIT Kanpur – The minimum eligibility criteria is mentioned on the website as B tech, B Sc engineering, BE or B Arch with a percentage of marks above the stated minimum. Last date for online submission and receipt of applications at the institute is February 3rd 2012.

Dept. of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee – Minimum eligibility criteria is mentioned same as DoMS, IIT Madras, and the last date for submission of applications is mentioned as 31st January 2012 of the printed version and 27th January of online submission. Weightage given to various factors is mentioned on the website as: CAT Score - 65%, Group Discussions - 10%, Interview - 20%, Work Experience - 5%. For other details:
