SNAP 2010: Four Sections, 180 Questions with Negative Marking

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is scheduled on December 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
to 4:00 p.m. at 30 test centers around India. The SNAP test typically has four sections—
1- General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability
2- Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
3- General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario and
4- Analytical & Logical Reasoning
SNAP 2010 is expected to have 180 questions with 40 questions each in General English, Quantitative and General Awareness sections. The Analytical & Logical Reasoning section is expected to have 60 questions. In 2009, there were 150 questions and in 2008 there were 135 questions in total. The time allotted to solve these questions is 120 minutes, which will be the same this year too.
SNAP 2008 had four sections on Quantitative and Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, General English, Analytical & Logical Reasoning and General Awareness, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business. The quant, general English and general knowledge sections has 35 questions each with 30 questions of one mark and 5 questions of two marks each. The analytical and logical reasoning section had 30 questions of 2 marks each.
The institute cut-off for SNAP is likely to be 85+ for SIBM, 80+ for SCMHRD, 72+ for SIIB and SIOM, while 62+ for SIMC, SCIT, SITM and SIMS.
SNAP typically deducts 25 per cent marks for every incorrect response. It is a paper-pencil objective type test which has four responses to each question.
The difficulty level of the test can be ranged from moderate to difficult, however it would be ambiguous to state that this year it would be easy or difficult. It is advisable to the aspirants to distribute their efforts across all sections to maximize the scores.
The results of SNAP 2010 will be declared on January 12, 2011.
