Indian Institutes of Management today announced the preliminary registration data for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012. The CAT 2012 voucher sale window ended on 17 September, with 2.
15 lakh vouchers sold4% above 2011.
The CAT 2012 registration window ended at midnight on 19 September with 2.14 lakh registered CAT aspirants, exceeding last years registrations of 2.05 lakh. The gender split has also moved in favour of female candidates with 28% of registrations coming from them, as compared to only 27% last year.
Similar to previous trends, the cities in which the highest numbers of candidates have scheduled to test are New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune. Prometric will soon be reconciling the registration data to produce a final report which will include actual numbers and demographic breakdown of candidates.
The registration process has gone very smoothly, said Professor SSS Kumar, CAT 2012 Convenor. Registration numbers have increased slightly over last year, which is a positive indication that post graduate management programmes at the IIMs and other prestigious B-schools that accept CAT scores, still offer an attractive future to many aspirants.
Since Prometric began delivering the computer-based CAT, our self-service, online registration and scheduling system has been providing candidates with the convenience and flexibility of selecting their preferred options in real-time. We also have a team of Candidate Care representatives providing additional support for unique needs like special testing accommodation, said Soumitra Roy, Managing Director, Prometric India. Our focus now is on preparing and checking all testing locations to provide the best possible testing experience to candidates. For this to happen, it is important that all candidates bring the right documents and turn up punctually at the right place, and at the right time. I encourage all candidates to view the test day video that is available on the CAT website to familiarise themselves with the test day procedures, Roy added.
The full report on CAT 2012 registration data is expected to be available from 5 October 2012.
CAT 2012 will be held in a testing window of 21 days starting from October 11 till November 6.
