presents IT Seminar on
Systems Continuum 2005: "IT - The Road Ahead"
On 5th-6th February 2005

It gives us immense pleasure to introduce "CONTINUUM -2005: The Annual Seminar Series" at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. CONTINUUM covers the latest in management trends and brings together leading personalities from the corporate and academic worlds on a single platform.

CONTINUUM specifically focuses on the issues and challenges faced by a particular business function, and aims to draw insights from the knowledge and experiences of the participating speakers. The event has grown from strength to strength over the years, and is now very well acknowledged by both the industry and the academia.

To set the ball rolling this year, we commence with the Annual IT Seminar - "Systems CONTINUUM 2005" on February 5th and 6th, 2005. The theme of is "IT - The Road Ahead", the focus of which is upon: -

  • Tapping New Service Lines
Indian IT companies are moving up the value chain by offering services such as IT consulting; Network infrastructure management; Systems integration; Network consulting and integration; Packaged Software Support and Installation.

What does this change signify? What does it take to succeed? Where are we moving to?

  • Targeting High Potential Verticals
Indian companies are now aggressively targeting emerging and nascent verticals such as Retail, Telecom Service Providers, Energy & Utilities, Transportation, e-governance, Education and Healthcare apart from traditional verticals like financial services, telecom and manufacturing.

Are we ready to handle these new emerging domains? Do we have the expertise? What are the verticals that look promising?

  • Growing the Inorganic Way (Mergers and Acquisitions)
2004 has emerged by far the most hectic year in M&As by front-line Indian software companies to acquire foreign companies with deal sizes ranging from $1m - $70 Million.

Is M&A the new buzzword for growth? Is it a strategy for building strong presence in the West by means of global branding? Is it the next step for large software companies to acquire vertically focused overseas firms and grow bigger?
