Objectives: Disaster Management remains an area which has immense scope for improvisations and that, in the context of distinct practices and methodologies adopted across different areas, regions, countries, etc, gains significance. Each type of disaster has its own set of inherent characteristics;
however, on a broad level, the critical strategies for its management remain more or less similar and hence therein lies the scope for a standardized solution approach: A quasi-intelligent approach that builds more upon the management aspects rather than the usually adopted technological ones and that is also adaptive in nature with respect to any type of disaster. The course shall focus on all the cycles of Natural Disasters showcasing the award winning research on the three-pronged solution approach (Management Approach, Technology aided Management Approach and Integrated Technology Approach).

The course shall also introduce best practices of three countries along with research findings and proposes to feature the unique distributed yet integrated management approaches. The course is a part of ongoing research of the programme director that has won accolades from all across the world and has been recognized by the Government of India. The focus shall be on the three stakeholder groups: Government /Administration Groups, NGOs/Self Help Groups and Affected Populace group.
