Director's Leadership Programme (Module III) for Directors in Bank & Financial Institutions
Program Director: Prof. Asish K. Bhattacharyya

Objectives: World class corporate governance practices are the mantra to attract investments and to reduce cost of capital. Therefore, all over the globe, well performing companies have raised the bar for corporate governance practices.

They go beyond legal requirements. The effectiveness of the board and transparency in corporate financial reporting are corner stones of good corporate governance Societal expectations from the board of directors have gone up after the government and regulators have initiated actions to improve corporate governance in India. This has widened the expectation gap. Members of board of directors have the responsibility to bridge that gap. They have to play the crucial role in achieving excellence in corporate governance.

The effectiveness of the board depends largely on the leadership skills, capabilities and commitment to corporate governance practices of each individual director. Therefore, every director needs to sharpen his acumen. Directors’ Leadership Programmes provide an opportunity to gain fresh insights through informal yet rigorous discussions with the faculty and peers and thus provides a platform to improve leadership skills and understanding of general management practices.

For: Members of the Board of Directors of companies, banks and financial institutions and top executives occupying positions one level below the director’s level are eligible to attend the programme.
