Traffline raises Series B funding from Qualcomm Ventures

Birds eye system which operates real time traffic monitoring solutions has raised funding from Qualcomm Ventures. The company will use the funds for product development, marketing and user acquisition and expand into more cities.

Traffline provides real-time traffic updates to commuters in Mumbai, Bangalore and Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai. The information is available as an app on mobile or is broadcasted to registered users via SMS and email updates.
The company has tied-up with private players, government agencies, police, public utilities and users to provide information to commuters.
The company started by Brijraj Vaghani and Ravi Khemani in 2009 provides real time updates like quickest time to reach a destination taking the current traffic situation into consideration, gives real time updates on rallies, concerts or traffic jams, provides personalised alerts on pre-determined routes etc.
Though most of the service is free, the company has launched a paid on-demand service for traffic updates. The company has priced Rs. 549 and Rs. 849 for email and SMS alerts respectively and will provide users with traffic updates for an entire year. According to the company, several hundred thousands have registered with the site.
