Great Lakes Institute of Management short list candidates on the basis of CAT and GMAT scores, along with other criteria, like work experience, past academic experience, letters of recommendations and also the performance in group discussion and personal interview.
Great Lakes Institute of Management offers courses like PGXPM ( Post Graduate Global Executive Program in Management), PGWPM (Post Graduate Working Professional Program in Management), GEMBA (Global Energy Executive MBA), PGPM (Post Graduate Program in Management) being the flagship program of the institute.

1- PGPM (Post Graduate Program in Management) is a one-year full time fully residential fast track program targeted at people with work experience. It is divided into seven terms. The class of 2010-2011 have 300 members housed in a 20-acre, eco friendly campus on the scenic East Coast Road near Chennai. It facilitates students to understand the interactions between the various functional areas of a business system and thereby appreciate the need for developing cross-functional perspectives in business.
Eligibility for admission
- The aspirants should qualify in CAT/GMAT before applying to Great Lakes of Management. For PGPM 2010-2011, CAT score of 2009 and GMAT score till 2008 will be accepted.
- The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution when applying for Great Lakes.
- The aspirant applying should have a full time work experience of at least two years however, outstanding candidates with less than two years of work experience are considered for admission depending on various other factors.
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on CAT/GMAT (2008-2009) score, past academic performance, performance in the personal interview, group discussion and essays Recommendation letters if presented should be submitted online along with the application. Recommendations should be from professionals and superiors with substantial work experience.
Form Availability
The admission form will be available at IMS Centre, T.I.M.E centre, Career Launcher Centre and Achievers Point Centre. The candidate needs to make a payment of Rs. 1500 to avail the admission kit. The application form can be submitted online at http://www.greatlakes.edu.in/cc. Alternatively candidates can make a payment Rs 1,500 by a DD at the centers (centers/ bank details will be listed on the institute’s website) or at Great Lakes City Office / Manamai campus
2- Post Graduate Global Executive Program in Management (PGXPM) aims to blend the fundamentals and the cutting edge of learning of Business Management. This program is designed to meet the needs of the working professionals so that they can prosper in their career. It is a two year part time course divided into 8 terms with 9 days residency in every one quarter.
Eligibility
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their recent resume, which will be screened by the officer academics, PGXPM, Great Lakes. The aspirants should be a high performance Middle /Senior manager with strong leadership potential and communication skills.
Shortlisted candidates are called for the GLMAT* test and personal interview to the institute. Those already have valid GMAT or CAT scores (less than 2 years old) need not write the GLMAT, subject to the scores meeting the institute's selection requirements, which will be decided and informed by Great Lakes.

Applicants can download the application form from the website admissions page and can send the application to the institute with all required enclosure along with payment of Rs 900.
3- Post Graduate Working Professional Program in Management (PGWPM) – is a two year academic program spreading over 52 alternate week end thus making PGWPM an eight term course. It comprises of 36-class room delivered courses and one- year long master thesis project. Famous faculty from US, Asia and Indian B-Schools handles classroom delivery courses. This program aims at ambitious, goal oriented, career-focused working professionals with 2 to 10 years of work experience.
Eligibility
- The aspirants should have at least completed three years of Bachelor’s degree with 60% throughout, from 10th standard to graduation.
- The person applying for the course should be working and need to have a work experience of minimum 24 months. Exceptionally good candidates with 18-24 months of work experience will be considered.
- All candidates who do not have a valid [less than 2 years] CAT or GMAT score will have to write the Great Lakes Entrance test (GREAT). Even if your score were valid in terms of its year, if it does not meet up with the selection requirements of Great Lakes, you would be advised to give GREAT followed by personal interview.
- For candidates who are directly sponsored by their organizations, the institute would enter into an agreement with the employer. In principle, an agreement with the employer is mandatory for self-sponsored candidates also.

Application form can be downloaded from the website admissions page and need to be sent back with all required enclosure to the institute along with payment of Rs 1,000.
