Kartavya, CSR club of IIM Raipur is organizing an eye donation registration camp in IIM Raipur on 11th Oct, 2012. The event, called Vihan, aims to create awareness about eye donation among the students of IIM Raipur and other neighboring colleges.

The aim is to ensure maximum number of registrations so that we can make a difference in the lives of people who suffer from Corneal Blindness. There are 6.8 million people in India who can benefit through eye donation. Many of those are children and young adults who have never seen the light of the day.

IIM Raipur is collaborating with Aurobindo Netralaya for this event. An eye technician from the Netralaya will visit the campus and perform free eye check-up for the students, along with providing the registration forms for eye donation. The procedure is very simple, only a form needs to be filled up by the participants, and they will be provided with a card by the eye institute. They must inform their family so that when the time comes for extraction of the eyes, after the death of the donor, the family will contact the nearest eye bank and ensure that the wishes of the donor are carried out. Thus, someone somewhere will benefit tremendously from this generous gift.

To create awareness about the event, CUSP, Cultural Club of IIM Raipur organized a flash mob at Pandri City Centre Mall on Wednesday evening. The flash mob started with dancing on random dance numbers but ended with a message that one should donate eyes to make this world a better living place.
