MAD Club VGSoM IIT Kharagpur organises interactive Commercial Break Session

The MAD(Marketing and ADvertising) club of VGSoM believes that all human knowledge begins with intuitions, proceeds thence to concepts, and ends with ideas. With the aim to help all the marketing enthusiasts in VGSoM, The MAD club conceptualized and kick started the Commercial Break Session.

The Session commenced with an AD analysis competition amongst the students. Three of the most popular Television commercials were chosen and students were asked to analyze it. After the participants analyses, an expert MAD club member delivered his well prepared analyses and gave mantra to help the awareness of this process by finding out the hidden message within the advertisement.

Ad Analyses was followed by a session on Guerrilla Marketing explaining the what is it, why it is needed and the Theory behind the Guerrilla kind marketing. Different types of marketing style like Viral Marketing, Presence Marketing, Wild posting Campaigns, Buzz Marketing, Alternative Marketing, Experiential Marketing, Tissue Pack Marketing, Wait Marketing, Reverse Graffiti and Live-In Marketing were also discussed in detail.

Finally there was a session on the process of gaining website traffic or attention through social media sites i.e. Social Media Marketing. It was comprehensive session explicating right from what is social Media to various techniques for building social strategy. It cut across how social media is different , why are the marketers using it, commonly used channels, shifts in social media marketing techniques and social media analytics and business metrics.

The entire Commercial Break session was interactive where the students gained some marketing takeaways. A small marketing Quiz was also conducted in between to test the marketers on their acumen where winners took away Coffee day Vouchers.
