MICA inaugurates the first Fellow Programme in Management

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) inaugurated the first batch of its Fellow Programme (FPM) today at the MICA auditorium. Prof.

Luiz Moutinho, Foundation Chair of Marketing, Department of Management, University of Glasgow, UK inaugurated the programme. Prof. Luiz said Doctoral Fellow degree is not merely an academic acquisition but a preparation to make significant contributions to theory, research and practice. Doctoral students' work must have both relevance and rigour. Commenting on the design of the programme, Prof. Ashok Ranchhod, Director, MICA said that considerable thought and effort has gone into designing the course structure and that an eminent board of academicians and scholars from India and abroad will guide it. The vision of MICA is to be a global leader in researching, educating, developing and practicing the art and science of communication for the betterment of humanity and this is a major step is our mission to realize that vision.


The first of its kind programme in the country, the FPM is an AICTE approved doctoral programme in the communication discipline.


The three years, residential FPM aims to produce communication scholars who have holistic understanding and knowledge of four areas of communication: Integrated Marketing Communication, Communication and Social Change, Communication and Cultural Studies and New Media and Communication. As part of the programme, the students are required to spend one term at an overseas university department assigned to an eminent academician/ researcher.

Nine students admitted to the first batch of FPM have relevant media work experience in fields such as marketing, advertising, radio, animation, and health management.
