RBI Governor to Address IIM Raipur Students

Dr. Raghuram Govinda Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India will be addressing the students of Indian IIM Raipur on October 4, 2013.

He will give his insights on ‘Indian Economy: The Road Ahead’.

Prior to becoming the Governor of RBI, Dr.Rajan was chief economic adviser to India's Ministry of Finance from 2012 to 2013 and chief economist at the International Monetary Fund from 2003 to 2007.

Dr. Rajan graduated from IIT Delhi with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1985, after which he acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from IIM Ahmedabad in 1987. He received a Ph.D. in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1991.

He is widely regarded as one of the few economists who foresaw the financial crisis of 2008, identifying as early as 2005 the unsustainable banking practices that led to economic collapse.

Dr. Rajan will talk about the challenges faced by RBI in reviving the growth of ailing Indian economy.
