One of the advantages of being in a premier B-school is the kind of global exposure which one gets, courtesy the Foreign Exchange Programme in the 5th term where the participants get a chance to study for one term in top institutes of the world. IIM Indore provides its students with a plethora of opportunities to be a part of this process of knowledge-gaining and networking with students from across the world.

In return, participants from various global institutes spend their 5th term at the IIM-Indore campus.

This kind of cross-cultural networking gives the participants different perspectives which helps a lot in the career, considering the immense level of inter-connectivity between nations and a large number of MNCs and Global Brands, where most participants get placed eventually.

At IIM Indore, the student exchange committee, popularly known as StepCom is actively involved in collaborating with the foreign institutes for student exchanges and facilitating the process for the outgoing students of IIMI. This year a record number of students, 75 to be precise, have opted for the exchange program.

IIMI has tie-ups with premier institutes all over the world like Bucconi in Italy, Munich Business School and EBS in Germany, EM Lyon in France among many others.

Towards the end of the first year of the post graduate program, the selection process for the exchange programme happens, with countless applicants lining up to study at a global institute of their choice.

The PGP Office mails the list of partner institutes and the number of available seats. A Google spreadsheet is floated by StepCom to fill in the preferred colleges. The tentative allotment is done by StepCom. After that process, the written application is collected by StepCom and submitted to PGP Office who confirms the final allocation. says Kala Piravi, Secretary of Step Exchange Committee, IIM Indore.

She further adds, We administrate the initial allotment of seats to students applying for student exchange. After the final confirmation by PGP Office, various deals like FOREX, Eurorail Passes, International Student Card, Youth Hostel Card, International SIM cards are facilitated by us. Assistance in Visa Processing is also done by us.

After the outgoing students return to the campus, interactive sessions are conducted between them and the PGP1s. This is indeed helpful for the juniors who wish to go for such exchange programs.

With the exchange program of IIMI growing so fast, with so many students opting for student exchange within 16 years of the inception of the institute, it will not be a long time before the program becomes a force to be reckoned in the international stage.

Surely we expect a day to come in the near future when IIM Indore would become an institution of global repute, a vision which is shared by the Director, N. Ravichandran.
